Professional Party Planners
Hey my friends!
Sister Guilain's been sick with a bad cold for most of the week, but she's been such a great example of pushing through to keep working hard regardless. We had such a great week!
It hasn't snowed at all here yet, much to the dismay of my companion. But we've had lots of wind and some rain. On Tuesday the wind was especially strong. We were out chapping, and the wind was knocking us around. If I jumped up into the air, I probably could've flown a couple of feet. I feel like we should've been miserable in that freezing cold weather, with rain coming down horizontally and piercing our faces, but it was actually so much fun! We were both laughing so hard with our soaked hair flying all over the place. If anyone saw us, they probably thought we were crazy. Especially when we knocked on their doors with ginormous smiles on our faces.
We're planning the Branch Christmas Party! Apparently they don't do parties here in the Galashiels Branch, so we thought we'd give it a go and invite all our friends! Pray that it'll go well I've never planned a party before, neither has Sister Guilain..
We had some really good visits and lessons this week. I love the people over here! They're all so good. We're making an effort this transfer to visit lots of members and less-actives, so one day we went out, determined to see miracles. The first less-active we chapped on let us in! He, his daughter, and two grandkids are all members, but haven't come to church in a long while. We talked with a couple of them and had a really nice visit. He still has a testimony, and wants to come back to church, but his current situation makes coming to church difficult. He did express to us that he was feeling the Spirit as we talked with him and even got emotional a few times as he talked about his conversion. When we prayed and left, he told us that our visit was just what he needed. It makes me wonder how many people need us, and we have no idea. We just never know the good we can do when we reach out!
As we were driving one afternoon, the sun was out and shining. Everywhere was cast in that gorgeous golden afternoon glow that you don't often see in cloudy, rainy Scotland. With all the fields and hills and old buildings, it was beautiful. We were both quiet in the car, and some church music was playing, and I was just looking outside trying to soak it all in, and I got my "Spirit chills," and I even got a bit teary. I don't understand how so many don't believe in God--in a Creator--with the world and nature all around them every day. It's just so obvious to me that there is some greater Being at work here. And why would this greater Being go through all this effort if He didn't love us? There is a God. He is our Father. And He loves us infinitely. Enough to make this beautiful world and universe. Worlds without number. For us!
Alma 30:44
"Will ye say, Show unto me a sign, when ye have the testimony of all these thy brethren, and also all the holy prophets? The scriptures are laid before thee, yea, and all things denote there is a God; yea, even the earth, and all things that are upon the face of it, yea, and its motion, yea, and also all the planets which move in their regular form do witness that there is a Supreme Creator."
I love you all! God loves you! Don't forget that! Be safe and be happy!
Love, Sister Syphus Xx
Sister Guilain asked me to write this quote for her. President said it during our Christmas conference. I had forgotten all about it, but it just popped into my head earlier this week. It hit me so hard--in a good way. They can be GODS through Jesus Christ! Just think of that!
we made the news!
comp unity?
our Christmas tree from my mom, and some gifts and cards from the branch
some of that golden glow (taken from a moving car, so not a super great picture)
