Cracking from Chapping
Hi everyone!!
My knuckles on my right hand are getting torn up. I don't know if it's just from the cold, or if all the doors I've chapped have played a role too hahaha. There are always hazards in everything we do! Even when you're just going door to door. This week we've had so many funny experiences while chapping. There was one older guy who answered the door and straightaway said, "I am a part of the true church of God and I don't associate with any false religion." Before he could close the door I asked how he knew it was the truth. He responded with this: "I was born in the Catholic church and have been indoctrinated." And then he closed the door hahaha. Funny people. And then an old lady answered her door and ignored us when we said we have a message to share, and said that she was trying to figure out how to fix her phone. We offered to help and she led us in. After she gave us her home phone, we put it in the charger and voila!! It worked! We were hoping to talk to her more, but she expressed her gratitude and told us to leave after that :( Awk well...
I love Galashiels so much! It's gorgeous over here, and the branch is so funny! We have a recent convert and are currently trying to work with his family. We taught his daughter this week and helped her paint some of the walls in her flat red. It was some good bonding time :) She's so funny. I know that when she understands how much the gospel can help her, she'll have a desire to be baptised!
My poor companion has been freezing this week. I have too, but at least I'm not from a warm, tropical island. And at one point in the week, her foot fell into a frozen pond It was so funny. She's such a champ!
A couple of days ago I was studying about worship. I've heard and said that word so many times, but I decided to look more into the definition and how to do it. And I found a talk by Bruce R. McConkie called, "How to Worship." Pretty straightforward I'd say! It's such a beautiful talk. Worship isn't merely praying, reading your scriptures, and going to church. It is obeying the gospel of Christ and keeping His commandments. "It is emulating the life of the great Exemplar." It is to align our will and desires with His and to be as He is." Later he says, "True and perfect worship is in fact the supreme labor and purpose of man." How beautiful. We are here on this earth to worship the Lord. So many things fall under that: learning in and teaching our family the principles of the gospel; sharing the gospel with those we know and love, and even those we don't know; service to others; standing up for our beliefs; befriending the lonely; comforting the comfortless. Worship brings us true joy. It is really the only thing that can bring us joy, as we focus on our God and Savior. They have given us everything. Christ is the meaning and message behind everything. It has been an honor and privilege and joy to worship Him. I hope we can all remember Him this December (Christmas!!) And do all we can to worship Him through different means, especially through serving others! Let's light the world my friends! If you haven't already, check out lighttheworld.org, watch the "Christ Child" video and sign up for the daily service prompts! It'll be so much fun!!
I love you all! Have a wonderful first week of December. :)
