"Did I just see that?...

"...Did a nun just walk by?" - from William during our lesson on Halloween. (It wasn't a nun, it was a hooded, caped witch)
Geetings fam bam! (We're all brothers and sisters, ye ken?) I just finished reading Sister Francis's weekly email, so I'm in a slang-y mood. I'll try and keep it toned down a bit. Only she can pull it off. I just sound silly.

So! We had another fine week in the Nauld! Our fridge and pantry are overflowing with goods. Yesterday we got two big bags of food from different members, including a whole chicken! It was one of those roast in the bag ones. It was super good. The meat fell right off the bones. I stuck my fork into the meat on the wing, and the bone just slid right out onto the plate. MmmMm. This type of food is nice, because even though I don't do anything besides stick it in the oven, it makes me feel like a professional chef. One of these days, I'll get there..

The beginning of the week was nice and sunny, still pretty nippy, but good. Sister Destribois was praying for rain though. She wanted to try out her brand new hood so bad. (The first five months of her mission were spent with a wool, not waterproof jacket with no hood ) So, she got what she wanted and it's been raining almost nonstop for the past two days. I secretly kinda like it. My confidence increases for some reason when it rains. And people are also more likely to take pity on us and invite us in when we come chapping. It hasn't happened this week, but I'm sure there'll be someone.

On Saturday we were working at the Peace Garden for a brief bit with our pals, just brushing leaves off the paths, as you do. I had my push broom in hand, trying to get every sticky leaf, when I realised my palm was hurting! I adjusted my grip and continued, but it just got worse and worse no matter what I did! So, I finally decided to take my glove off and check it out, and lo and behold, a giant popped blister was smack dab in the center! Biggest blister I've ever had in my life. So after tearing off the peeled-off skin, I pulled my glove back on and went back to work until our tea break. Yum yum.

Later that day we went to the library to teach Chris. He saw my hand and disappeared, and came back with a big first-aid kit. He went into nurse mode and gloved up, and went ahead and rubbed my blister raw with a disinfecting wipe, then proceeded to wrap it up in a big bandage. Haha they take good care of me here :)

It's feeling pretty good now, which is a relief, especially after yesterday. All the members kept telling me that it was going to get infected and that I was gonna lose my hand. I was a bit terrified, given my hand was pulsing in pain all of yesterday, but it seems to be dandy now.

Anywho, don't know if any of you wanted to know all that. I'll admit I got a bit carried away with my storytelling skills.

We talked to a guy named Daniel while we were off to an area to chap. It was probably the funniest first conversation I've ever had with anyone. He said he was too busy to meet, but gave us his number anyway. We tried bribing him by telling him we'd make cookies if he met with us, and he said he'd bring the milk. Apparently it wasn't a good enough bribe though, because he hasn't responded to us yet. I have faith! If any of you have some good cookie recipes, don't be shy! Pass em along! (Really though, please).

We had a few other neat lessons, but we've mostly been chapping. It's cool to realise how much I've grown to really love people. I love being able to spend each day getting to talk to so many different people from so many different backgrounds. It's a once in a lifetime opportunity that I treasure. Even if they say no and reject us I just feel sad, because I know how much the Gospel can help them. But it's been such a blessing to hear so many people's experiences and stories. It's crazy to think that 16 months ago, I had no idea that any of these people even existed! That blows my mind! I love being a missionary!!

Recently, we as a mission have been focusing on becoming Preach My Gospel missionaries. We've been making a greater effort to study Preach My Gospel more in depth, more regularly and to apply what we learn. My studies have been so good this week! If some of you guys haven't read Preach My Gospel yet, or haven't read it in a while, read it! It's not just for full-time missionaries, it's for everyone! We need to know what it teaches, and what it tells us that we should be teaching! We've been given a great duty and opportunity to share what we know with others, and this manual builds in us the courage and spiritual strength and power to do it. SO GOOD!

I love you guys! You've been such great examples and influences in my life, and I'm so grateful for all of you!

Love, Sister Syphus

we went to a museum last week with most of our district.
I guess it was a pretty good one, but I'm not the biggest fan of museums.
My favourite part was going to McDonald's afterward
