"Sunshine, Lollipops, and Rainbows..."
For some reason, this song by the Carpenters has been stuck in my head for the last two and a half transfers (thanks Sister Desoloc). These are the only lyrics I know, and it's driving me nuts!
Anyway! Hello everyone! It's nearing the end of October and it's crazy! Hope you all have some schnazzy Halloween plans, cuz I don't! :p
This week was awesome! We had our zone conference, and I was able to catch up with Sister Desoloc and my MTC companion, Sister Hammond. I LOVE THEM SO MUCH! Conference was so amazing, as always. I feel the Spirit during those in a way that I never really have before.
We had a ginormous miracle yesterday. We were chapping, and it was nearing the end of the day. My toes were numb and my fingers were blocks of ice (what's new? Everyone tells me that my perpetually cold hands are concerning and that I should go to a doctor bahaha). A man answered his door and we began talking with him. We shook his hand, and he commented on how cold we were and invited us in. We said yes after he said that his wife was in as well. So we went into their living room and began chatting with them. We started talking about the Book of Mormon and answered a few of their questions, including, "Why do you think God lets all of these bad things happen in the world?" We started talking about how opposition allows us to learn and grow, agency, the works, and then a new thought came into my head that I've never really thought about until recently. I felt this when President Nelson gave his talk in General Conferece, about the second great commandment and all the Church's charity work and humanitarian efforts, and I related to this couple that I felt that sometimes God allows sad things to happen, or natural disasters to occur, to give others the opportunity to reach outside of themselves and serve and love. I myself have grown from service opportunities I've been able to do, and I shared an experience with them. It was sweet to see how that clicked with them, and the woman shared an experience of her own. It was so cool! Anyway, we were able to give them a Book of Mormon and set up a return appointment. Woot!
We also met with Chris and had a Spirit-filled discussion with him and some members. He's grown and progressed so much, and he's so good in the ward. He blessed the sacrament yesterday too, and it was really good to see. A member of the bishopric later told me that I looked like a proud mum during sacrament hahahah. Don't know what I was doing to look like that..
We were also able to meet with a couple more of our friends too. Sister Destribois is still working on understanding people here ha... oh my heck I almost forgot! Sunday morning we were going about our regular morning schedule and received a text from our main man Kenny, saying that he didn't know how to get to church (he just moved to a different part of the Nauld and the member that usually walks him wasn't able to). So we rushed to get ready (record time for me!) And dashed down a mountain to pick him up. Then we walked back up the mountain and all the way to the church. It was prolly close to an hour of walking, and my body doesn't do well with mountains, so we were pooped and soaking wet by the time we arrived at the church (and it hadn't been raining either..) so that was an adventure. (Oh and it wasn't really a mountain. There's so such thing over here. It was just a really steep, really long hill)
Anyway, I love you all and gotta go! Catch up with you later!
Love, Sister Syphus
