"You look like a cartoon doll"

Heyo everyone!

So, news from last week. Sister Desoloc left Cumbernauld and went to Montrose, my birthplace! And now I have Sister Francis! She is the bomb.com. She's so funny and so good. I don't think I've laughed as hard as I have this week in a long time. We've been having so much fun!

We've been teaching lots and have seen so many miracles. We're seeing a woman named Sarah, who has been inactive for a long time, and she loves the things we're teaching. During her night shifts she explores the Gospel Library app, and she keeps all our commitments and even brought her mom, who was visiting over the weekend, and has also been inactive for a long time, to church! She's so amazing. And our friend Chris came to Stake conference last week, and church this week as well. :) There are so many incredible people here! Even with Cumbernauld winning the "most dismal town in Scotland" award twice, I love it!

Sister Francis and I got stuck at a bus stop for an hour Friday night until 10pm. We jammed out to a Christian band called Unspoken to keep the Spirit, and she wrapped herself in her big black coat and stood in the corner to ward off any "predators." Don't worry though, no one was around.

Our whole mission came to Edinburgh to meet and listen to Elder Neil L. Andersen and Elder Teixeira and their wives speak to us. It was incredible to have everyone in our mission gathered together. That never happens. It was such a powerful meeting. Absolutely beautiful. The Spirit was so strong. They talked a lot about obedience and having a strong foundation, and asking for referrals and the power of the Book of Mormon. At one point, the power of prayer was really emphasized to me. When we pour out our hearts in prayer to God, and work diligently, miracles will occur. I'm so grateful for this Gospel. And for the prophets we have to guide and teach us. I love them, and I take it all for granted too much too often.

So, Sister Francis's birthday is today! Her mom sent her a box of funfetti cake mix, and last night during dinner we made cupcakes for our newish convert, DJ, since his birthday was yesterday. He's so funny. He's so quite and always seems serious and grumpy, and said he wasn't doing anything for his special day, so we brought them over to him. Think he's warming up to us. We even got him to smile and laugh a few times! Just kidding, he's not that bad. Then this morning we used the rest of the cake batter and made pancakes! And we sandwiched them with icing. It was so good!!! I'm for sure doing that when I get home. Much better than cake.

I love all of you, and I hope you all have a wonderful week! Keep me updated!

Love, Sister Syphus
