Achievement unlocked: Rubix Cube
Hey everyone :)
We were out of our area for half the week, and it's been a bit slow. We went to the Carrigogunnell Castle ruins in Limerick on Monday then stayed there for District Council the next day. Right after that, we had lunch then drove to Dublin for our exchanges with the STLs. We had a couple of lessons and went to Eddie Rockets, this cute American Diner type place for dinner with a returning member. Best sandwich I've had in more than a year! That night I used an epilator for the first time. Those things hurt like cray cray.
The next day we continued our exchange, but the Dublin zone had a zone skills training thing going on, so we joined em for that. Then we taught some more lessons and learned some Portuguese! We didn't get back to Tralee till Thursday morning.
We kinda taught our friend Mario. He was in town and didn't want to go anywhere else, so we sat on a bench and started talking with him. In the middle of our conversation, this team of little chav girls came over and interrupted. We had met them once when we first came to Tralee when they hijacked our chapping. After they stopped talking to us, they sat on the bench right next to us and started screaming at each other, just being silly kids. Mario was getting pretty annoyed. We told them to quiet down, and they did, but then one came right up to us to be obnoxious. Mario poked at her and insulted her pretty bad, and the she and her little friends started yelling and swearing at him. Haha. Man, what an interesting lesson. We ended up leaving pretty soon after giving him a Book of Mormon and committing him to read and pray, since the Spirit was so absent. AWKWARDD.
We visited a less active named Moira. Our whole visit she talked about her fun stories with different missionaries. She was the type of member to take active part in missionary work and helping and feeding missionaries. Kinda like a younger Helen Stronach :) She's also served in pretty much every calling. Apparently though she got into some anti stuff and is convinced now that the church isn't true. It's so so sad. Satan is trying to get more and more of us through doubts and fears. One thing that has been emphasized to me is that it's great to have questions, but there's a difference between questions rooted in doubt and questions that are faith-filled. Sister Eubank talked a bit about this in her most recent General Conference talk. She said, "For those seeking truth, it may seem at first to be the foolish claustrophobia of windows made of stone. But with patience and faithful questions, Jesus can transform our windows of stone to glass and light. Christ is light to see."
I love that! It might seem that not knowing everything is like having stones filling up our windows and blocking our vision. But really, it's us that determine whether these things block us or give us greater insight and understanding; whether we are doubting, or continuing in faith.
Don't let the unknown, or things that may not make sense right now, make you doubt your faith! Instead, understand that you won't know everything, and hold on to Christ and His love! He will eventually reveal everything to you :)
Church yesterday was awesome! We had so many visitors from Utah and Arizona and other places. Lots of tourists stay in County Kerry during the Summer, so we see lots of them. The building was so packed! And a person we're teaching came to church and bore her testimony! We haven't really seen her at all, as she's always working and travelling to Dublin, but she knows the church is true, just won't be baptised yet until she receives a for-sure answer. Her testimony was beautiful. She said she might be able to meet with us next week, so we're crossing our fingers!!
And last thing, Sister Elison taught me how to do a rubix cube!!! Yaaaas! I'm a pro! Don't know why it makes me so happy, but it sure does!
Anyways, that's pretty much it! I love you all so so much!!
