Trains and travel (boring, I know!)
Hello again my friends! I hope you're all doing fantabulous!
This week has been so so busy. Tuesday we went to Belfast for interviews with President Macdonald. We left Derry at 8:30 am and got back at 8:30 pm...
On Wednesday we had a lesson with a man that had been taught by missionaries a few years ago! His name's Jeff Kelly, and we found him in our area book and gave him a call. He said he was interested in reading the Book of Mormon, and we got him to meet with us. He's so awesome. We taught the Restoration, and he told us how he completely related to Joseph Smith. He's so confused about all of the different religions and wants to know the truth. We committed him to Read the Book of Mormon and begin praying about it, and he said he would. He wants to take everything slow, so wouldn't come to church and doesn't want to meet up a ton yet, but we've been praying and hoping for him. A couple days back I saw him on the street and asked how the reading and praying was going. He said it was going, but didn't seem too excited about it. Just said it was new and he would have to get used to it. We're still praying for him. He seems to have such a strong desire.
We travelled to Belfast again on Wed. night and then went to Dublin Thursday morning for our All-Ireland missionary conference. No bus mishaps this time! I played real Uno for the first time during the ride. Pretty neat pretty neat. The meeting was wonderful, as always. We talked about our goals and priorities for this year, and really focused on Coming Unto Christ ourselves, so we can better help others do the same. I want to go into more detail about everything, but I'm running out of time. Just know that it was amazing! :)
We got back to Derry Friday morning, and dragged the STLTs with us. They came to Londonderry for exchanges! I was with Sister Neilson. She came out with Sister Mac, and she's always scared me a little--even more than Sister Cox! She's 6 feet tall too, so she just towers above me. But let me just say, that was the best day ever. SHE IS AMAZING. I've decided to not let anyone scare me anymore. Unless they're drunk, high, or I get some bad feels. We talked to so many people and set up lots of appointments and had a lesson with a single mother from Jordan! Her name's Aysheh, and she's living here to go to Uni. She's Muslim, and is separated from her 11 year old son, Ezz. She's very lonely, and desperate for someone to talk to. We were able to be her friend and to teach her a lesson! She loved every bit of it, and took the Book of Mormon from us. She won't come to church yet because of her own religion, but she's lovely. :) Anyway, it was such an awesome day. I learned so much!
On Sunday, after church, we travelled AGAIN to Belfast for our zone cluster meeting, where we talked about our goals for the month. We also spent a lot of time roleplaying GQing with different recent converts of the Holywood Ward. They're all so incredible, and their stories are inspiring. And Conor was there too! What a guy.
We stayed in the STLs' flat that night, then played some frisbee with most of the zone, and then we came back! So, in all, we had around 15 HOURS OF TRAVEL. Crazy crazy! I'm so tired! It's all good though, it was completely worth it.
That's the (long) gist for the week.
I love you all so much. Be safe and happy and I'll see you in a while!!
LOVE YOU!!!
Sister Syphus
Exchanges with STLTs Sisters Neilson and Curtis! Sister Neilson is the one left of me. (And Sister Cox is the far left!)
Party in Dublin! (jk we were just waiting for our other bus. we weren't partying too hard)
The statue that's pretty close to the Holywood chapel in Belfast. Sis Cox and I thought it was pretty cool, and we hadn't taken any pictures this transfer yet so we were like "What the heck?"
