Wo Shi Shen Di Haizi
So the most notable, special part of the week was yesterday! It was the best day ever! November 11th is Remembrance Day in the UK, and it's a very very big holiday. People pin poppies on their clothes a week in advance to remember those who sacrificed everything to fight in the World War. And every year, on the Sunday closest to this day, every town does a little parade and special service in the Church of Scotland, then there's a wreath-laying at a monument where different groups in the community lay some wreaths. The Bishop and a few others participate in this, and this year he asked if Sister Wu and I could come (we're BFFs). We received special permission from President, so we went! All of us that went: Bishop Dibdin, two of his daughters, Erin and Hannah, Sarah, and Sis Wu and I! It was lovely. The actual service was long and strange, but some good messages were shared, and then we marched back to the monument for the wreath laying bit. Usually the bishop goes up to lay the wreath for our Church, but he insisted that Sis Wu and I go up and do it, as we would be the most recognizable ones in the community. My heart was racing and my hands were sweating, even though it was just a simple walk up, put the wreath down, bow to them, and walk away. There weren't any mishaps, so that was nice. The Spirit was strong there though. It was lovely. After that we rushed back to the church so Sister Wu and I could begin teaching the Primary kids I'm a Child of God in Mandarin, hence the subject heading^^. It was lots of fun! And I'm hoping and praying that I'll be staying a few more weeks to keep teaching them.
Moves call is this Saturday already and I'm feeling nauseous. My family's here (one of them) and I don't want to leave them. The bishop actually texted us saying that his kids all took a vote whether or not to invite us over for Christmas if we were still here, and it was unanimous for aye! I can't believe that they love us enough to want us to invade their home on Christmas day. They are my family, and since I won't be able to spend that beautiful day with my real one, I would die with joy to be able to spend it with the Dibdins.
Now let's be done with what ifs and hopefully's! And I won't disgust you with the horrors of our latest toilet blockage (not my fault Rob and Clel and everyone else). We had exchanges in Aberdeen with the STLs, and that was GREAT! I was with Sister Lough again. She's the best, and it was so amazing! Our Chinese family that Sis Wu taught last week dropped us :( They want us to visit still but aren't interested in learning more. We still have hopes for the 14 year old daughter though!
Ryan's still doing really really well. He's become an awesome missionary and has been sharing the gospel with some siblings. His brother has begun going to church (not one of ours, but it's a start), and his sister has been asking more and more questions! So good. We're so excited for him!
We had lunch with Sarah on Friday. She's struggling with lots of things--depression, anxiety, tendonitis, etc, and doesn't feel up to keeping commitments other than attending church. We're trying to help her as best we can, but are kinda at a loss. She might just need time. I don't know.
We aren't really teaching anybody right now, and haven't been for a while, so we're pretty bummed about that right now, but we're still trying our best to push through! We've been making it a point to visit less actives, and will hopefully be able to meet with one tonight.
OH. I almost forgot! I cut Sister Wu's hair this week! These silly companions of mine are cray cray! Never before my mission have I attempted to cut anyone's hair (other than some bangs for myself and that was bad...), and yet they both came to me wanting me to do it! Wott!? I cut it to her chin, and let me just tell you, it looks pretty darn good. Lots of compliments have been directed her way, and you know I make sure to tell them it was me that done it! We did it for exercise one morning, and don't worry, it sure made me sweat enough!
Ending on a spiritual note. Yesterday was to remember our Veterans and those who sacrificed their lives so that we may live ours in freedom and peace. What a beautiful day to partake of the sacrament as well, where we remember the ONE who sacrifice HIS life in a way that no one else ever could do, so that we may live in freedom and peace and joy eternally. Let's not just remember Him on Sundays. I hope that He can shine brightly in every inch and second of our lives. He is my Light, and He is my Life. I love Him.
Love you all and miss you!
