Toes and Bruises

Hello hello everyone! I hope you're excited for another loong email!

Let's get the not so fun parts out of the way shall we?? The Arbroath Sisters moved to Arbroath! We miss them lots. This week has been so COLD. My toes have been falling off, and my fingers are black. jk jk. But really though. It's not even winter yet. Wott!? On one of these cold, rainy days, Sis Wu and I were just getting off of the train. There's this little metal wall-ish type thing that goes up to mid-shin height (hip height for Sister Wu), and rather than walk around it like a sensible person, I decided to go over it. Because of my heavy, leaden, numb blocks of pain at the end of my legs, I didn't get my foot over it, and instead scraped the entire front of my shin and bottom back of my thigh on it. There were lots of people around, so instead of screaming and crying like I wanted to, I got up out of my sitting position on the devil metal wall and limped over to the little bus stop. I actually started to feel nauseous from the pain, and now I have a ginormous bruise covering my shin and thigh. It still hurts. Dumb nut.

Now happy happenings! SARAH CAME TO CHURCH YESTERDAY! We were in Laurencekirk on Saturday (that's where she lives) and we called her to ask where a warm, public place would be so we could comp study (there was none). She answered and mentioned that she was in Glasgow, and wanted to try and meet up with Sister McNamara and her new companion Sister Peterson (who was also in Montrose and taught Sarah). I called them and gave them Sarah's number, and they actually got her to commit to come to church and read the Book of Mormon! And she came! It was like she had never left. Bishop joined us in Gospel Principles and kept giving her the stare-down and very not-too-subtle "get baptised" remarks. She was so uncomfortable, but she loved it at the same time. He's too funny. She promised Bishop that she'll be coming to Hugh's (Bro Auld's) annual Quiz Night activity on Friday, and that she'll come to church on Sunday! Pray for her please!
Oh my goodness, I have so many little funny things I want to tell you all, but I just never have time!! There's this guy named Graham Douglas that we always see on the streets. He isn't interested in religion, but he's always super nice. One time we saw him, he told us that we had better up our game because he had had TWO pairs of JWs chap on his door in ONE day! "I told them I wasn't interested because I had some Mormon friends! ;) " OHHH DAANG! We told him that we aren't Mormons anymore, but the sentiment was there and it felt good. CONVERT!

On Wednesday, we had an RC lesson with Ryan and the Dibdin family! And oh was it heaven. They are my most favorite people ever! They fed us all tea, and then we sat down for a discussion. We talked about the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and all it was was just testimonies and personal experiences all around the room. The Spirit was so strong and it was lovely. Bishop said something that I really loved, and I wrote it down! This is probably a quote from somebody else? I don't know. "Who I am is God's gift to me. Who I become is my gift to God. And I can only become who I want to become through Jesus Christ."

After the discussion, Bishop and Pauline offered me the use of a little back massage thingy that would probably help my owie achey back. They're so sweet! I'll probably be going back in a little while to try it out. Let's hope something works! I'm getting tired of hurting.

Another funny thing. Sister Wu always says the best things! This was our conversation while we were getting ready for bed after the Dibdins:

"Sister Wu, I just want to spend all day, every day with the Dibdins. Is that a bad desire? A selfish desire?"

"No! It's a CELESTIAL desire!"

I don't know if any of you'll think it's funny, but it was just so unexpected. We shared it with Bishop and Pauline, and Bishop told us that he's been trying to figure out which one of his kids to sell to make room for us to live in their home. I love them!

Also another thing! HELEN STRONACH KNITTED ME A SCARF! I died.

Anywho, we didn't have any lessons this week, so that was a bit rough, though we've been visiting and chapping by some less actives, and that seems to have some potential. We've been invited back a couple of times. We also met a hilarious lady named Sally, who's best friends with James Lynch's (he's the cheeky ward clerk) daughter. We chapped on her door, introduced ourselves, she said "not interested!" and was about to close the door when Sister Wu desperately asked if we could use her toilet. And BOY were we desperate! She let us in and after we both took care of our business, we had a 20 minute chat with her. She was telling us that we needed to find a good man. One who'll treat us right. But wait til our thirties to get hitched. HA! She thought 25 was young! Go to Utah baby! Then you'll see! She wants to set us up with her 20 year old son. We told her we didn't date while on missions and she was horrified!! We also told her a few other things about missionaries and the church in general, and she told us to come back any time, and we could have a nice chat, turn on the tele, and have a warm cup of tea. Hahaha, so FUNNY!

One last thing, Sister Wu GQed her first Chinese friend since coming to Montrose! She was FLYING afterward. She's hilarious.

Okay, that's it. I love you all and hope you have a superdee duper week! Take care, stay safe, and be happy :)

Love, Sister Syphus
 Rainbow!
I look like a pig, but that's Helen's scarf, and that's their last name on a Salon in Aberdeen.
 Middle of nowhere
Our pumpkins! Mine's the middle on the ground. Sis Wu's is the right one.
It's a carving of the celestial kingdom and broccoli?
Yum yum. I made em for fun :)
