Another Blessed Transfer in Montrose!
(Email to mom)
I'M STILL IN MONTROSE MOM!! President Macdonald called us on Saturday morning, which was a shock in and of itself, since it's usually the ZLs that call if it's staying the same, or the APs if someone's moving. They also typically call in the evening. Anyway, we were talking to someone when I felt the phone vibrate, and my heart sped up super fast. After our talk, I looked at the phone and saw President's number, so we called him back, and he told me that I'm staying and Sister McNamara's going to Glasgow as STL! I'll be getting Sister Wu. She's coming in tonight, so right now I'm with the companionship in Dundee in a trio. Sister Wu is Chinese but is from New York. She came out the same time as Sister McNamara, and she says that she's hilarious. I'm excited. She's also very short, so I'll have to get used to that haha. Apparently her family isn't supportive of her joining the church at all, and even less so of her serving a mission, so she didn't tell them about it. Sis M says that they think she's doing a service thing in Europe. I guess she doesn't contact them at all during the week. I'm not sure if that's still the case, but I can't imagine how hard that would be. I'm just grateful that I have such an amazing family.
I also got the package! On the 4th! So it came super quick. THANK YOU SO MUCH! Especially for the CDs and apples. Before I got the package, I was telling Sis M that you were probably going to send some dried apples too. I totally called it! I love them, and I've been listening to the CDs every morning haha.
And General Conference was amazing! I still haven't seen the last session. Hopefully I'll get to today. I can't believe the changes that keep on taking place! TWO HOUR CHURCH!?? What! So crazy! I'm so excited.
Love you! And if I'm still on at 5:30 I'll hangout you :)
I'm staying in Montrose! You have no idea how happy I am. This whole week has been filled with anxiety, waiting for the call that would take me away. In our interviews that I mentioned last week, he apparently told Sister McNamara that it was almost certain that I would be leaving, so I was just dreading it (not too much don't worry). We got a call from President himself on Saturday morning, where it usually is the ZLs or APs making the call in the evening. Our hearts stopped and sped up, and he told Sis M that she'll be going to Glasgow as STL, and that I'll be staying in Montrose with Sister Wu! She's Chinese but from New York, and I've been told that she's incredibly hilarious and short. Sister McNamara is off to Glasgow right now, and Sister Wu will be here tonight, so I'm with the Dundee sisters for the day.
And General Conference! Oh my goodness it was so amazing. Never before had the sessions gone by so quickly. Because of the time difference, the times they were broadcasted are pretty weird. The Saturday and Sunday morning sessions were shown at 5-7 pm, the Afternoons are 9-11pm, and the Women's Session was at 1-3am. So, on Saturday, we went over to a member's home to watch it with Ryan, and they served us dinner afterwards, then on Sunday we went to the Dundee Stake Center to watch the Women's at 10, the Saturday afternoon at 1, and then travelled back to Montrose to see the Morning one at 5. We still haven't seen the Sunday afternoon, so hopefully that'll be able to happen today sometime. It was so good though! The changes that are occurring are so crazy but so inspired! It's incredible. One of my favourite talks was from Ronald A. Rasband. It hit me hard. I feel like I've been fearing many things lately, and his comments gave me an extra dose of courage to rely on and love the Lord. I can do anything with Him. He is truly at our forwards, our backwards, and our side. I have no need to fear! It's truly such a blessing to be able to hear from the prophets. How grateful I am to have a living prophet of God here on the earth today, and that we are given the blessed opportunity to hear from them often. I love the Gospel! God is good.
So, a new area just opened up in Arbroath, so now there'll be two sets of missionaries in the Montrose Ward! The sisters also don't have a flat or phone between them, so they'll be living with us for the foreseeable future. It'll be crazy! And pretty weird, especially since I'll be the one leading out the area. I'm not going to have any clue what to do. This means that we're also going to be halved on our dinner appointments with the members, and I'm pretty dang sad about that. It'll be good though. It'll be good.
Last night, after watching conference in the Montrose church, we took lots of pictures with Sister Mac and the members, so I'll share some of those. It was a bittersweet moment. I've said this before, but I cannot express to you how much I love these members. They're all so loving and wonderful, and the perfect family away from home.
After pictures and farewells, Helen Stronach called and told us that she had dinner made for us at their home. We ran over there and ate quickly, so we could catch a late bus to Dundee that night. Robert and Helen drove us to our flat, waited while we finished packing, then drove us to the bus stop. We got to the Sisters' flat in Dundee at 10:00, went to bed, and drove to the train station in the morning where Sister McNamara left at 8:00! It was rushed and hectic, but everything turned out to be alright :)
And that's all the big stuff! It's been a good but very slow week. I love you all!
